relearning how to walk

I will be showing you exercises that worked for me. Will they work for you? Well worth a try! However, consult with your physician before starting, and please, if you experience any pain, stop the exercise immediately. Please be extra safe when doing standing exercises. Overall, be aware of your surroundings and always plan for the worst scenario.

With that said, I will be focusing on walking. There are a few areas we are going to be targeting, which, in my opinion, are the most used. They are as follows:

  • Core
  • Lower back
  • Calves
  • Quads
  • Hips
  • Abs
  • Stabilizing muscles

By targeting these areas, we will also be targeting other muscles that help with each movement you perform. All areas play a role, but the ones listed are the essential ones. For best results, do exercises that require multiple muscles to perform a task. I will try to explain the exercises that seem to be more effective for your balance recovery.

I have adjusted the exercises for more improvement toward your body. You will learn and adjust the exercises for your needs. The point here is for you to notice how your body strength and balance work together. Once you grasp the concept, you will be doing exercises that you make up for your needs. Be patient with your improvement; it does take your body a long time to adjust to these movements that have not been performed for some time. Your body does heal, it just takes time. If you want your body to have extreme difficulty; just close your eyes.

Having specific exercises for everyone is difficult. A physiotherapist will test and tailor exercises for that reason.

I ask you many questions about your circumstances to better picture your injury and its initial treatment.

Healing takes time; it’s okay to scream when angry. This situation is a learning experience, and I can’t guarantee a full recovery, but improvement is certain.

Expect frequent, general exercises; check in often for examples.

Pay close attention, particularly when standing, listen to the man who’s stumbled a few times.

I’m here to help, so please reach out. The initial and key step is the desire to recover.
